Refund & Virtual Products Policy

1. Virtual Products & Subscriptions Final Sale

All purchases made on Velvet—including Coin packs, promotional Bonus Coins, chapter unlocks, and subscriptions—are final and non-refundable once the transaction is completed and digital access is provided.

Chapters 1–8 of every book are free to preview so readers can evaluate story quality before purchasing. Chapters 1–8 are free, chapters 9–15 cost 15 coins each, and chapter 16 onward costs 25 coins each. Coins are sold at 1,000 coins for $13.98 USD.

Subscriptions cost $3.98 per day, $12.98 for the first week then $25.98 per week, $51.98 per month, or $259.98 per year. A subscription unlocks every short story; long novels are still unlocked with Coins. Once coins are credited, chapters are unlocked, or a subscription period begins, performance is deemed complete.

2. No Cash Value & Non-Transferable

Velvet Coins and Bonus Coins are digital licenses for accessing digital serialized entertainment.

• Coins have no equivalent fiat cash value and cannot be redeemed, refunded, exchanged, or converted into legal tender.
• Virtual balances cannot be transferred, gifted, or assigned between accounts or to third parties.
• Unused coins remain valid while your account remains active and in good standing.

3. Account Termination & Balance Forfeiture

If your account is suspended, banned, or terminated due to a violation of our Terms of Service (such as automated scraping, piracy, AI training abuse, fraud, or harassment), all remaining Coin balances, Bonus Coins, and active subscriptions are forfeited immediately without refund, restitution, or compensation.

4. Contact Support Prior to Initiating Chargebacks

If you believe a billing error has occurred or you experienced an unrecognized charge, you must contact Velvet customer support at sure@readinnook.com before filing a dispute or chargeback with your card issuer, bank, or payment provider.

Our support team responds to billing inquiries within 2 business days and will work in good faith to investigate and resolve genuine billing discrepancies.

Initiating an unwarranted or fraudulent chargeback constitutes a material breach of our Terms. Velvet reserves the right to immediately freeze disputed accounts and pursue remedies to recover associated merchant chargeback fees.

5. Preservation of Statutory Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Refund Policy excludes, restricts, or limits mandatory statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived or disclaimed under applicable local consumer protection legislation.

• EU / UK Consumers: Under European Union and United Kingdom consumer law, you typically have a 14-day statutory right of withdrawal from digital contracts. However, when purchasing digital content (such as Coins or chapter unlocks), you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is waived once access to the digital content begins.
• Subscriptions: For recurring subscriptions, statutory withdrawal rights apply only to the initial subscription period where service delivery has not commenced, or where mandatory under local statute.
• Statutory Inquiries: If you believe you are entitled to a refund under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction, please submit your request to sure@readinnook.com with your transaction receipt.
